FAQ

What is a virtual 5K?

Due to current restrictions regarding large gatherings (50 people or less) we are not able to host the event (trust us we really did try!) Participants can run/walk whenever and wherever between the week of October 3rd - October 11th

Participants have the flexibility to support our cause while participating in the event remotely at your own time, pace and even place. It is a win-win, since participants can choose the day, the weather and the route while raising money and having some fun along the way. You can choose to run outside by yourself or in a small socially distant group or you can run inside on a treadmill! The options are endless this year.

Virtual races also allow people from all over to participate, not just the Chicagoland area like previous years.

Why is the 5K a week long now?

Most virtual endurance events are more than 1 day long. We chose October 3rd - October 11th to accommodate all the breweries for BrewDay and to have more runners be able to participate.

Can I really run or walk anywhere I like?

Yes, you can do the 5K from a treadmill or from a path in another state! The options are endless and that is the perk of a virtual 5K.

Since the 5K is virtual do I have to be 21 years old?

Since the event is virtual and there are no Beer Stops anyone any age can participate this year. To receive the Beer Stop 6 Pack the participant MUST be 21 years or older and their ID will be checked at Packet Pick-Up to receive the 6 pack.

What is included in my registration?

Participants will receive an event t-shirt (if registered by 9/22), finisher medal, running bib, Certificate of Completion, access to BrewDays and a Beer Stop 6 Pack (first 400 registrations).

How much beer do I get with my registration?

We know this is a very important question! If you are one of the first 400 registrations you will receive a Beer Stop 6 Pack with a beer from each Featured Brewery. All registrations will receive access to attend BrewDays the week of the 5K.

Are there refunds?

There are no refunds. You can always transfer your registration to a friend or sell it to someone else. Or you can consider it a donation to Project Mobility! Thanks for your understanding!

Am I guaranteed a shirt?

If you are registered by September 22nd then yes, you are guaranteed a free t-shirt.

How do I get my packet?

At one of the three Packet Pick-Ups (see below).

What is in the packet ?

We are not really sure who started calling them packets since you will not be receiving a "packet" lol but it includes your shirt, finisher medal, bib and any sponsor materials.

Can I pick up my friends packet at Packet Pickup?

Yes, a friend can pick-up your items if you give them permission and a picture of your ID to show the volunteers. If you are receiving a Beer Stop 6 Pack you MUST attend a Packet Pick-Up with your ID. No one can pick this item up for you. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

Is the event walker or runner friendly?

BOTH! The fun part about a virtual 5K is the fact you can walk or run at your own pace whenever and wherever you like. Virtual 5Ks are perfect for those that want to do a 5K for the first time but might be a little nervous doing it at an actual event (great practice for next year!)

How do I time myself?

You can use any running app you like. A few of our favorites are MapMyRun and Strava, but you are more than welcome to use any other app.

How do I submit my results?

You will receive an email with instructions on submitting your results. It is super easy!

When do I need to submit my results by?

You have until the 5K ends which is Sunday, October 11th at 11:59 pm CST. But if you want to try and get top 3 of your age group and possibly be featured during our Virtual Awards Ceremony Presented by Dogfish Head you must complete your 5K and upload your results by 12 pm CST Sunday, October 11th.
